Premise and main characters

The plot follows Gru, an ambitious criminal who lives in a suburban lair and dreams of pulling off a spectacular heist. When he adopts Agnes, Margo and Edith as part of a scheme, the girls' affection gradually softens his outlook. The lead voice cast includes Steve Carell as Gru, with supporting voices by Will Arnett, Kristen Wiig, Russell Brand, Jason Segel, Julie Andrews, Ken Jeong, and Miranda Cosgrove.
