Débora Pérez Volpin (1967–2018)

Débora Pérez Volpin was an Argentine journalist, television presenter and later a public official. Born in Buenos Aires on 30 December 1967, she spent most of her professional life in broadcast journalism before entering electoral politics. As a well-known media figure she combined reporting and live presentation, earning recognition from a broad television audience across Argentina. Her career and sudden death in February 2018 attracted national attention and debate.

For more than two decades Pérez Volpin worked in television news and magazine programs. She was widely identified with the cable channel Todo Noticias, where she remained a prominent presenter from the mid-1990s until 2017. She also hosted the morning show Arriba Argentinos from 2005 to 2017, delivering a mix of news, interviews and human-interest pieces. Colleagues and viewers described her style as calm and approachable, and she was often credited with bringing clarity and steadiness to live broadcasts.

Her long media career preceded a brief stint in elective office. In 2017 Pérez Volpin joined the political front known as Evolución, led by Martín Lousteau, and won a seat as a legislator for the City of Buenos Aires. On 6 February 2018 she died in Buenos Aires at age 50.
