Znamierowski’s professional life blended editorial activity, publication and commissioned design. Between 1985 and 1994 he served as an editor of the Polish Service of the Voice of America while working in Washington, D.C.. During subsequent decades he continued to publish articles and books, and to accept commissions to create or modernize heraldic and vexillological designs. Over his career he designed hundreds of coats of arms, flags, banners and seals for more than 200 different cities and institutions, producing material used in official documents, signage and ceremonial contexts.
