Geography and administration

The region covers a mix of urban and rural landscapes, dominated by the Ljubljana basin and its surrounding hills and valleys. Administratively it comprises the capital city and a cluster of neighbouring municipalities, forming a compact area where the urban core transitions into smaller towns and farmland. Rivers and transport corridors cross the territory, linking it to other parts of Slovenia and to neighboring countries.
