Armour of God (Chinese: 龍兄虎弟) is a 1986 Hong Kong action-adventure comedy film directed by Jackie Chan. The movie stars Jackie Chan alongside Alan Tam, Lola Forner, Rosamund Kwan and the Yugoslav actor Božidar Smiljanić. It was released by Golden Harvest and later followed by the 1991 sequel Armour of God II: Operator Condor.

Overview

The film mixes martial arts, slapstick comedy and treasure-hunt elements. Jackie Chan plays a globe-trotting treasure seeker who must recover parts of an ancient suit of armour while facing rival treasure hunters and various set-piece action sequences. Production notes

Produced and distributed by Golden Harvest, the film was shot with a mix of Hong Kong and overseas locations and employed the elaborate stunt work typical of Jackie Chan's films. During filming, Chan suffered a serious accident while attempting a stunt which resulted in a fractured skull; he underwent surgery and subsequently made a recovery. The incident prompted revisions to safety procedures on his later productions.

Release and legacy

Upon release, the movie helped broaden Jackie Chan's international profile and became part of a franchise when a sequel was produced in 1991. The original title in Chinese is often used in East Asian markets, while the English title has been used for international distribution.
