Božidar Smiljanić (20 September 1936 – 7 April 2018) was a Croatian actor whose career spanned more than six decades. Born in Zagreb, he began performing in the early 1950s and remained active in film, television and theatre until his retirement in 2016. Over his long career he appeared in more than 70 films and numerous television productions.

Early life and beginnings

Smiljanić grew up in Zagreb, where he entered the acting profession during a period of rapid development in Yugoslav and Croatian cinema. He made his screen debut in 1953 and gradually established himself as a reliable performer, building a reputation as a versatile character actor able to take on a wide range of supporting parts.
