Xabier "Xabi" Alonso Olano (born 25 November 1981) is a Spanish football coach and former professional player. Renowned for his passing range, tactical intelligence and composure on the ball, Alonso spent his career as a central or deep-lying midfielder. After retiring from playing he moved into coaching and has worked in youth and senior management roles, first within Real Madrid and Real Sociedad structures and later at senior club level as a manager.
