Mehmet Okur (born May 26, 1979 in Yalova, Turkey) is a retired professional basketball player who established himself in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a versatile frontcourt player. He combined size with an uncommon outside shot for a big man, helping to broaden the role of centers and power forwards who could stretch the floor.

Okur entered the NBA after being selected in the 2001 draft by the Detroit Pistons with the 37th overall pick. He spent the early portion of his American career developing his game and earning minutes as a reserve and occasional starter. Okur later signed with the Utah Jazz, where he became best known for his consistent outside shooting and ability to play both the center and power forward positions.

Playing style and strengths
