Kia Michelle Stevens (born September 4, 1977) is an American professional wrestler and performer who rose to prominence under the ring names Awesome Kong and Kharma. Born in Carson, California, she became widely known for a commanding physical presence, a hard-hitting style, and for headlining programs at a time when larger women were rare in mainstream North American wrestling.

In-ring style and persona

Stevens has been portrayed as an intimidating, powerhouse competitor. Her character work often emphasizes strength, aggression and a menacing aura, contrasting with faster or technical women's wrestlers. In matches she is noted for heavy strikes, throws and power moves that underline her role as a dominant, sometimes unstoppable, antagonist or special attraction.

Career overview

Stevens trained and worked on the independent circuit and in Japan before achieving international attention. She is best known for her tenure with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), where, as Awesome Kong, she became one of the Knockouts division’s most visible stars. In 2011 she crossed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) under the ring name Kharma and made a surprise Extreme Rules 2011 appearance. Her WWE run drew mainstream attention but was brief; she later returned to the independent scene and to other promotions where she again used the Awesome Kong name.

Championships, feuds and notable work

Across promotions, Stevens collected major women's titles and headline feuds. In TNA she is a two-time TNA Women’s Knockout Champion and a one-time TNA Knockout Tag Team Champion (with Hamada). Her long-running rivalry with top Knockout performers helped elevate the division and produced matches frequently cited in discussion of TNA’s women's wrestling era.

Legacy and importance

Stevens is regarded as an influential figure for the way she expanded the visual and athletic range of women's wrestling. By presenting a physically imposing, credible in-ring competitor, she broadened the types of stories promoters could tell in women’s divisions. Her work helped set a precedent for promotions to feature a wider variety of body types and styles in prominent roles.
