John Graham "Mac" McVie (born 26 November 1945) is a British bass guitarist best known for his work with the rock band Fleetwood Mac. Prior to joining Fleetwood Mac he played with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers.
Career
McVie joined Fleetwood Mac soon after the group was formed by guitarist Peter Green in 1967, replacing the original bassist Bob Brunning. His bass playing helped shape the band's early blues-rock sound and he remained a central member as Fleetwood Mac's lineup and musical style changed over time.
Personal life
In 1968 McVie married blues pianist and singer Christine Perfect. Christine became a member of Fleetwood Mac two years later; the couple divorced in 1977.
Health
On 27 October 2013 the band announced on their Facebook page that McVie had been diagnosed with cancer and would be undergoing treatment. After an improvement in his condition he returned to perform with Fleetwood Mac on their 2014 On With The Show tour.
