Adrienne Jablanczy (born 11 September 1948) is a French economist and academic administrator best known for leading the Institut supérieur européen de gestion (ISEG) group since 1997. Trained in economics and political science, she has combined classroom teaching with management of higher education institutions and a research interest in financial markets and alternative banking systems. Her career bridges traditional university posts and leadership of private business education in France.

Education and early academic career

Jablanczy completed advanced studies at University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), institutions that form part of France's core higher education network for economics, law and public affairs. She began teaching in the mid-1970s and held posts as an economics instructor at Parisian universities, including an appointment at Panthéon-Assas University. From early on she combined teaching with applied study of financial institutions and markets.

Leadership of ISEG and business school management

In 1997 Jablanczy was appointed director of the ISEG group, a network of French business and management schools. In that role she has overseen academic programs, institutional development and efforts to adapt curricula to evolving market needs. Her leadership reflects an emphasis on professional training for careers in finance, marketing and management, and on integrating practical market knowledge into business education.

Research interests and specializations

Jablanczy's work spans several interrelated areas:

  • Financial markets: analysis of market structures, instruments and the behavior of financial actors, with attention to how markets influence corporate decision-making and education of finance professionals.
  • Business school management: governance, curriculum design and internationalization of management education, especially within the private and semi-private sectors of French higher education.
  • Islamic finance: study of finance practices that comply with Islamic law (sharia), including comparative perspectives on banking models, risk-sharing instruments and ethical dimensions of finance.

Teaching, outreach and influence

Alongside administrative duties, Jablanczy has maintained an active teaching role. She has taught financial markets at institutions such as the École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications de Bretagne (Télécom Bretagne) and continued to lecture in management and finance topics for undergraduate and graduate students. Her career illustrates a blend of scholarship, pedagogy and institutional leadership, contributing to debates on how professional schools train the next generation of managers and finance specialists.
