The 2018 Winter Paralympics (the XII Paralympic Winter Games) were staged from 9 to 18 March 2018 in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The programme featured mountain and ice competitions and used many of the same venues prepared for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Edition and scope

These Games marked the twelfth Winter Paralympics. Athletes with a range of impairments competed across multiple classifications in events adapted for winter sport.

Host selection

Pyeongchang won the right to stage the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic winter events at the International Olympic Committee session held in Durban on 6 July 2011. The selection was made by the IOC, which awarded South Korea the 2018 winter Games.

The 2018 Winter Paralympics continued the international tradition of winter adaptive sport, bringing together competitors and national teams to contest medals and promote accessibility in elite sport.
