Yvon Taillandier — French artist, critic and author

Career and roles

Taillandier worked for many years as a critic and chronicler of contemporary art. He spent fourteen years contributing to the French art magazine Connaissance des Arts, producing articles, reviews and catalog essays that addressed both abstract and figurative tendencies. For four decades he played an administrative and curatorial role as Secretary of the Salon de Mai committee, a position from which he helped shape exhibition programs and support emerging artists.

Artistic practice and writings

As an artist Taillandier produced paintings and drawings that engaged with modernist language without aligning exclusively to a single movement. As a writer he authored critical texts, exhibition catalogues and monographic essays that aimed to situate artists within broader aesthetic debates. His texts are noted for their clear, accessible tone and their attention to artistic process and intention.

Involvement in salons and exhibitions

Taillandier was closely involved with many of France's postwar salons, both as participant and organizer. These included:
