History and municipal change

Historically managed as an independent commune, Vernamiège underwent an administrative reorganization at the start of 2011. On 1 January 2011 the former municipalities of Mase, Nax and Vernamiège merged to create the new municipality of Mont-Noble. The consolidation reflected a common Swiss trend toward combining small communes to pool services and simplify governance.
