Béla Magyari (1949–2018) was a Hungarian Air Force colonel and engineer who led parts of Hungary’s astronautics community, serving as president of the Hungarian Astronautical Society and working with the Hungarian Space Office.

Béla Magyari (8 August 1949 – 23 April 2018) was a Hungarian military officer and aerospace engineer who became a prominent figure in Hungary's astronautics community. Born in Budapest, he trained as a military pilot and completed his education at the Hungarian Air Force Academy "György Kilián" in 1969. Over a long career he combined operational service with advocacy, public outreach and institutional work in space affairs.

Career and roles

Magyari rose through the Hungarian Air Force to the rank of Colonel, serving in roles that emphasized aviation safety, flight training and technical expertise. After his active military service he remained involved in aerospace matters through professional and civil institutions. He served as President of the Hungarian Astronautical Society, a membership organization devoted to promoting space science and education, and later worked with the Hungarian Space Office in efforts to coordinate national space policy and international cooperation.

As a public figure in Hungarian astronautics, Magyari was known for encouraging science outreach, supporting student programs and representing Hungary at professional gatherings.
