Location and population

The settlement was situated in the department of Mayenne and the region of Pays de la Loire, in the northwest part of the country France. It was a small community: official counts recorded 553 inhabitants in 1999, according to the 1999 census. Like many small French communes it consisted of a village core surrounded by agricultural land and hamlets.

History and administrative change

The name Saint-Christophe-du-Luat reflects a traditional French practice of naming places after saints, here Saint Christopher, and often indicates an origin as a parish settlement dating back to the medieval period. In the 2010s and 2020s France encouraged voluntary municipal consolidations to improve public services; Saint-Christophe-du-Luat joined this trend when it became part of Évron at the start of 2019.

Character and local life

Its landscape and economy were typical of rural Mayenne: small farms, pastures, and community facilities such as a church, a town hall and local associations. Residents benefited from proximity to larger service centers after the merger, while local traditions and communal events often continued to mark village life.
