Political career

Kentish was affiliated with rural conservative political groupings. He was initially a member of the National Party and, after the reorganisation of territorial political forces in the mid-1970s, became associated with the Country Liberal Party. His elected service in the Northern Territory included roles on both the council and the later assembly.
