Geography and municipalities

Baden District lies along the Limmat valley and combines river plains with gently rolling hills. Settlements and transport routes follow the valley corridors, which has encouraged linear development and commuter links toward larger urban centres. History and development

The region has a long history of settlement, with Roman-era thermal baths giving the town of Baden its name and early importance.
