Career and recognition

Mureșan received international recognition early in his career when his film Răscoala (The Uprising) earned the prize for Best First Work at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival. That accolade brought attention to Romanian cinema abroad and marked Mureșan as a leading figure among his contemporaries.
