James Michael Curtis (March 27, 1943 – April 20, 2020) was an American professional football player who spent 14 seasons (1965–1978) in the National Football League. A standout at the linebacker position, Curtis is widely remembered for his time with the Baltimore Colts and for later appearances with the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Redskins.

Career

Curtis began his NFL career in 1965 and remained an active player through the 1978 season. Over that span he developed a reputation for tenacity and leadership on defense, becoming one of the better-known linebackers of his era. He spent the bulk of his career with the Baltimore Colts before finishing his playing days with shorter stints in other franchises, including the Seattle Seahawks and Washington’s team.
