Geography and municipal structure

The modern municipality stretches beyond the central town to incorporate agricultural and coastal landscapes. In a wave of municipal reorganization, nearby local governments were merged into Medemblik: Noorder-Koggenland and Wognum were integrated in 2007, and Andijk and Wervershoof joined in 2011.
