Mastung Tehsil

Geography and climate

The tehsil is located in western Pakistan within the broader karst and plateau landscapes of Balochistan. The town of Mastung lies at approximately 29°48′0″N, 66°50′60″E and at an elevation of about 1,701 metres (5,583 feet) above sea level. This elevation gives the area a more continental climate than the lowland plains: summers can be hot by day but nights are relatively cool, while winters are colder and drier. Rainfall is generally limited and seasonal, influencing the pattern of agriculture and water use in the tehsil.

Administration and settlement

Mastung town is the administrative centre of the tehsil and is itself subdivided into two Union Councils for local governance. The tehsil is one of the principal subdivisions of Mastung District and handles local government functions such as record keeping, land administration and coordination of basic services for surrounding villages.
