Louis Cardiet (20 January 1943 – 28 April 2020) was a French professional footballer who played primarily as a defender. He spent the majority of his club career with Stade Rennais F.C. and represented his country at senior level in the mid-1960s.
Early life and club career
Cardiet was born on 20 January 1943 in Quimperlé, France. After progressing through local football, he joined Stade Rennais in 1963 and remained with the club until 1973. During that decade he established himself as a regular in the team’s defence.
International career
He was selected for the national team between 1965 and 1967, appearing for France at senior international level during that period.
Death
Louis Cardiet died on 28 April 2020 at the age of 77.
