Herzele is a Belgian municipality in the Denderstreek region of Flanders with 18,027 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2019). The municipality has a total of eight sub-municipalities, Borsbeke, Herzele, Hillegem, Ressegem, Sint-Antelinks, Sint-Lievens-Esse, Steenhuize-Wijnhuize and Woubrechtegem.
The Molenbeek runs through Borsbeke, Herzele, Ressegem and Hillegem and the Molenbeek-Ter Erpenbeek runs through Herzele, Sint-Lievens-Esse, Woubrechtegem and Ressegem.
Aalst is 11 kilometres to the north-east, Geraardsbergen 12 kilometres to the south, Oudenaarde 19 kilometres to the west, Ghent 20 kilometres to the north-west and Brussels about 33 kilometres to the east.
The nearest motorway junctions are to the north at Erpe-Mere and Wetteren on the A 10 / E 40.
Herzele has a regional station on the railway line Kortrijk - Oudenaarde - Zottegem - Herzele - Aalst/Brussels; national express trains also stop in Ghent and Brussels.
The nearest international airport is located near the capital Brussels.
