Älvsbyn

Älvsbyn is a place in the Swedish province of Norrbottens län and the historical province of Norrbotten. It is located by the river Piteälven on Riksväg 94 and the Stockholm-Boden railway line. Älvsbyn has 4976 inhabitants (2015). Älvsbyn is also the main town of the municipality of the same name.

Älvsbyn has developed into a tourist resort in recent years, offering recreational activities from rafting to skydiving. The town has a youth hostel with a small amusement park on the same grounds. 40 kilometres northwest of the town is the Storforsen waterfall. Not far from Älvsbyn is the Höghedenbanan motor racing circuit (also known as Älvsbyns Motorstadion), where rallycross races are held annually under the management of Älvsbyns Motorsällskap (Älvsbyns MS).
