Overview

Durbuk (also spelled Darbuk) is a small administrative centre and settlement in the Leh district of the Union Territory of Ladakh, in northern India. It functions as a tehsil or sub-district headquarters within the sparsely populated high-altitude region of Ladakh. The settlement is best known as a waypoint on routes that lead eastward from Leh toward Pangong Tso and other high plains and border areas.

Durbuk lies in the cold desert environment characteristic of eastern Ladakh. The surrounding landscape is a mix of barren plateaus, rocky passes and narrow river valleys with limited vegetation.
