Domagnano is one of the nine castelli (municipalities) that make up the Republic of San Marino. Geography and neighbours

Castello di Domagnano.jpg

Domagnano lies in the eastern portion of San Marino and shares borders with other castelli as well as with Italy. Within the republic it touches San Marino's municipalities and is adjacent to Faetano, Borgo Maggiore and Serravalle. To the east it meets the Italian municipality of Coriano. The area is characterized by rolling hills and views typical of the Apennine foothills.

History and development

Like many settlements in the region, Domagnano has roots stretching back through the medieval period and earlier. Archaeological finds and historical records indicate long-term human presence in the surrounding territory. Over time the locality developed as a rural community within the unique political structure of San Marino, governed as a castello with local councils and civic responsibilities.

Local features and economy

The economy is largely local and small-scale: agriculture, small businesses, and services for residents and visitors. The castello maintains municipal services and hosts community events typical of San Marino's local governance. Its landscape and proximity to larger towns make it a quiet residential area with links by road to nearby centres.
