Biography and public life

Arbasino was born in northern Italy and established himself as a writer and editor. Alongside his literary work he took on roles in journalism and broadcasting, engaging with a wide range of cultural forms including cinema, music and visual arts. He also entered politics: as a member of the Italian Republican Party he served in the Chamber of Deputies from 1983 to 1987. His public interventions combined literary authority with an often ironic, critical stance toward contemporary society.
