Location and population

The municipality lies at approximately 50°28′N, 4°17′E. According to official counts cited for 2007, Chapelle-lez-Herlaimont had a population of 14,121 inhabitants. Its setting places it within commuting distance of larger urban centers in Hainaut and the Walloon Brabant periphery, and it is served by local roads and regional transport links.

History and development

Like many settlements in Hainaut, Chapelle-lez-Herlaimont experienced growth associated with the 19th- and 20th-century industrial expansion of Wallonia.
