Cauville is a small French commune located in the northwestern part of the country. It lies within the Calvados department, in the area that was historically known as the Basse-Normandie region and, since the 2016 territorial reform, is part of the larger Normandy region of France.
Location
The commune is situated in the department of Calvados, one of the administrative subdivisions of Normandy in northwestern France. As with other communes, Cauville forms the lowest level of local government in the French administrative system.
Local government
Cauville is governed by a municipal council headed by a mayor, following the standard structure for French communes. The council is responsible for local services, planning, and municipal affairs.
