Charles W. Fairbanks

Early life and career

Fairbanks trained as a lawyer and entered private practice before rising in state politics. He built a reputation as a skilled organizer and fundraiser within the Republican Party and developed ties to business and civic leaders in the Midwest. Those connections helped launch his candidacy for national office near the turn of the 20th century.
