Stephen Sutton (16 December 1994 – 14 May 2014) was a British blogger and campaigner who became widely known for raising funds to support teenagers living with cancer. He wrote the blog Stephen's Story and led a fundraising drive for the Teenage Cancer Trust that attracted national attention.
Life and diagnosis
Sutton was born on 16 December 1994. He was first diagnosed with colon cancer at age 15 and lived with the illness for four years. Sutton died from the disease on 14 May 2014, aged 19.
Fundraising and impact
Through his blog and social media, Sutton encouraged donations to the Teenage Cancer Trust. By the date of his death he had helped raise a total of £3,439,865.12, an amount reported to be more than 300 times his original fundraising target. His campaign brought significant public support to the charity and increased awareness of young people affected by cancer.
