Ondrej Duda (born 5 December 1994 in Snina) is a Slovak professional association football player. He is known primarily as an attacking midfielder who can also operate on either wing. Duda has combined domestic development in Slovakia with spells abroad, most notably in the Polish top division and in German competitions. He has been a regular selection for the Slovakia national football team and is popularly referred to by nicknames such as Dudinho and Ondrej di Maria.

Early life and development

Duda was born in eastern Slovakia and progressed through local youth systems before breaking into senior football. His early professional development included a spell at VSS Košice, where he made his first professional appearances and gained recognition at national level for his technical ability and attacking instincts.

Club career

He played for VSS Košice from 2012 to 2014, establishing himself in senior football. He later moved to the Polish league and became widely known during his time with Legia Warsaw, a club competing in the Polish top flight and continental qualification rounds, which provided a platform to showcase his creative play. Subsequent moves saw him compete in German professional competitions and return to play in Poland at different points in his career. Throughout these moves he has been valued for his ability to link midfield and attack and to perform in higher-intensity leagues within Central Europe.

Playing style

Duda is typically deployed as an advanced playmaker or a wide attacking player. He is noted for close ball control, quick feet in tight spaces, a left-footed shot from distance and the capacity to create chances through passing and movement. Coaches have used him as a late-arriving runner into the box and as a creator between the lines. His adaptability allows him to play behind a striker, on the flank, or in rotated midfield systems.

International career

On the international stage Duda has represented Slovakia at senior level, taking part in qualifying campaigns and tournament squads. His inclusion adds offensive variety and a technical option for managers; he has been used in different tactical roles depending on opponent and formation. Supporters regard him as part of a generation of Slovak players who have kept the national team competitive in European qualifying cycles.

Significance and public image

Within club environments and among national-team followers Duda is recognised for creativity, work rate in attack and a capacity to influence games in the final third. His monikers reflect a blend of affection and stylistic comparison made by fans and commentators.
