Mike Troy (American swimmer)

Career and records

Troy won two Olympic titles at the 1960 Rome Games and was a world-record holder in three events during his competitive peak. Most notably, he lowered the world record in the 200-meter butterfly on six successive occasions, a run of improvements that underscored both his consistency and the rapid evolution of the stroke. His string of records in the 200-meter butterfly ended when fellow American Carl Robie succeeded him in 1961.
