Oasis were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991 and active until 2009. The group is most often identified by the Gallagher brothers: Noel, the lead guitarist and chief songwriter, and Liam, the frontman and lead vocalist. Over the band's 18-year history several musicians joined, left, or toured with Oasis; some were founding members, others replaced originals during commercial and personal transitions.

Core and founding members

  • Noel Gallagher — lead guitar, principal songwriter and occasional lead vocals; joined early in the band's formation and became the dominant creative force.
  • Liam Gallagher — lead vocals and public face of the band throughout Oasis' existence; known for his distinctive singing style and onstage persona.

Early and original lineup

  • Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs — rhythm guitar and occasional keyboards; part of the original lineup and present through the band's 1990s peak.
  • Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan — bass guitar; an original member during the band's early albums and success in the 1990s.
  • Tony McCarroll — original drummer on the debut recordings; he left the group in the mid-1990s.

Later official members and touring musicians

  • Alan White — replaced the original drummer in the mid-1990s and played through much of Oasis' commercial peak before departing in the 2000s.
  • Gem Archer — guitar; joined after the 1990s departures and remained with Oasis until the band ended.
  • Andy Bell — bass; brought in as a full member in the late 1990s and stayed through the final years.
  • Zak Starkey and other drummers — various touring and session drummers filled the drum chair in the mid‑2000s; some players contributed to live shows and studio work without always being designated permanent members.

Throughout their run, Oasis also used additional touring personnel and session musicians for keyboards, backing vocals and percussion. The lineup shifted notably after 1999 when original members Bonehead and Guigsy left and were replaced, reflecting changing musical and personal dynamics within the band.

The group dissolved in 2009 when Noel Gallagher left, citing irreconcilable differences. In the aftermath, several former Oasis members went on to new projects: Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and a drummer formed Beady Eye, while Noel pursued a solo career under the name Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. Oasis' changing lineups are often discussed alongside their recorded output, live performances and the central role of the Gallagher brothers in shaping the band's identity.
