Lin-Manuel Miranda (born January 16, 1980) is an American composer, lyricist, playwright, and actor. He was born in New York to Puerto Rican parents. He is best known for creating and starring in the Broadway musicals In the Heights and Hamilton. He co-wrote the songs for the Disney animated movies Moana and Encanto. He directed his first movie in 2021 with Tick, Tick... Boom!. He starred in the movie based on his play in 2020.

His awards include a Pulitzer Prize, three Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, a MacArthur Fellowship, and three Tony Awards.
