Jason Thomas Orange (born 10 July 1970) is an English performer widely recognized for his work as a singer, dancer, musician and occasional actor. He rose to public attention as one of the five original members of the pop group Take That, contributing to the band's commercial success in the 1990s and its later comeback. Orange retired from the group and public performance in 2014.
Early life and performance background
Before joining the pop scene, Orange developed a background in dance and movement, which shaped his stage persona. His skills as a dancer were a visible element of the band's choreography and live shows, and he brought a physical, performance-driven presence to the group's routines. He also explored other creative outlets, including brief acting and stage work.
Role in Take That and musical career
As a member of Take That, Orange participated in the ensemble singing, choreography and recording that produced a string of charting singles and albums during the band's original run. After the band split in the mid-1990s, the group reunited in 2005 and released new material that restored their status in the pop landscape. Orange was part of both eras and contributed to the band's collective image, live performances and recordings until his departure.
Later years and retirement
In 2014 Orange announced he was leaving the group and subsequently stepped back from the public eye. Since then he has largely avoided media attention and has not returned to regular performance. His decision to retire from the band marked the end of a public career that merged pop music, dance and occasional acting projects.
