Jafar Umar Thalib (Arabic: Arabic جَعْفَر عُمَر طَالِب; IPA: [dʒaʕfar ʕumar tˤaːlib]; 29 December 1961 – 25 August 2019) was an Indonesian Muslim leader best known for founding and leading the organization Laskar Jihad.

Thalib came to public prominence when he established Laskar Jihad, an Islamic organization that attracted national attention around the turn of the 21st century. The group and its activities made him a widely recognised and contentious figure in Indonesia's contemporary religious and political landscape.
