Gregory John Page AM (born 16 January 1972) is an Australian singer, musician and actor widely recognised as the original lead singer and a founding member of the children's music group The Wiggles. Performing as the Yellow Wiggle, Page became a familiar figure to preschool audiences around the world through recordings, television appearances and extensive live touring. In addition to his ensemble work he has recorded several solo albums and appeared in other family-oriented performances.
Formation and career with The Wiggles
The Wiggles began as a small ensemble in the early 1990s focused on simple, upbeat songs and movement-based routines for young children. Page was a central voice and frontman from the group's formation through to 2006, contributing lead vocals to many signature songs and helping shape the group’s stagecraft. His clear, singable delivery and onstage persona made him especially recognisable to audiences and caregivers.
Artistry and contributions
As the Yellow Wiggle, Page combined singing, storytelling and interactive routines designed to engage toddlers and preschoolers. He participated in songwriting, arrangements and the development of choreographed segments that emphasised repetition, rhythm and participation. These elements became part of a wider approach that blends music, movement and simple humour as a tool for early childhood entertainment and learning.
Health, honours and later activity
Page stepped away from the regular touring lineup in 2006 for medical reasons and returned to perform with the group for a period in 2012. He holds the postnominal AM in recognition of his contributions to children’s entertainment. Since leaving the original touring role he has taken part in selected reunions, charity events and solo appearances, maintaining a public profile connected to children’s music and family entertainment.
