Early career and WWE

Hankinson began wrestling on independent cards before signing with a major promotion where he introduced the Festus character: a distinctive gimmick in which the performer appeared passive until the match bell, then transformed into an aggressive competitor. The Festus persona led to a televised partnership with Jesse and established Hankinson as a recognizable presence on weekly television. He later returned under the Luke Gallows name and was written into faction storylines, most prominently aligning with CM Punk, Serena Deeb and Joey Mercury in the Straight Edge Society, a stable built around a cultlike on‑screen identity.

New Japan, Bullet Club and tag success

Outside of WWE, Hankinson reinvented himself as Doc Gallows and found significant success in tag competition.
