Club career highlights
Bellamy played for a number of well-known clubs in the Premier League and the Scottish leagues over more than a decade. His club list includes spells at Liverpool, Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers, West Ham United, Cardiff City and Manchester City. He was valued for his ability to change a game from wide positions and to press defenders relentlessly.
Playing style and characteristics
Known for quick acceleration and a low centre of gravity, Bellamy combined speed with a combative mindset. He offered width on the flanks, good crossing ability and a willingness to track back defensively. Throughout his career he was praised for his work-rate but also noted for a fiery temperament that sometimes led to disputes on and off the pitch.
International career
As a Wales international, Bellamy was a long-serving member of his national side, often selected for major qualifying campaigns and fixtures across multiple seasons. Beyond Wales, his inclusion in the Great Britain squad for the London 2012 Olympics was a high-profile moment late in his playing days.
Legacy and later roles
Bellamy's legacy is that of a dynamic, determined wide player who could both create and score goals. After retiring from playing he has been involved in coaching and mentoring young players, and has taken part in community and ambassadorial activities connected to the sport.
