Cheech Marin

Early life and rise to fame

Marin grew up in Los Angeles in a Mexican-American family and began performing in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He rose to national attention with his partner Tommy Chong, developing a comic persona that mixed Chicano angles, urban characters and stoner humor. Their work captured elements of the era’s youth culture and led to a series of successful albums and feature films.
