Geography and composition

The former municipality occupied gently rolling countryside that linked it to neighbouring communities and to the regional centre of Winterthur. History and administrative change

Bertschikon bei Attikon functioned for many years as an independent municipal entity responsible for local planning, education at the primary level, and communal services. As part of a wider trend of municipal consolidation in Switzerland to improve administrative efficiency and service provision, the former municipality merged with a larger neighbour. On 1 January 2014, Bertschikon bei Attikon was incorporated into the municipality of Wiesendangen, transferring responsibilities for governance and records to the new municipal authority.
