Overview
Takafumi Ogura (小倉 隆史, born July 6, 1973) is a former Japanese professional footballer and manager. A forward by position, Ogura made his name during the formative years of the J.League and later remained active in the sport in coaching and administrative roles.

Early life and development

Like many professional players of his generation, Ogura progressed through school and youth football systems in Japan before turning professional. His development followed the patterns common to Japanese players who entered the newly established professional league in the 1990s, combining domestic youth coaching with competition at school and club levels.

Club career

Ogura spent the main part of his playing career in Japan's domestic professional leagues. Over a number of seasons he featured regularly for club sides, contributing as a starting forward and occasional substitute depending on squad needs. He also experienced short periods away from Japanese domestic competition, as some players of his era sought playing time or training opportunities abroad. For club-level summaries and records see the club profile: club profile.

International career

Ogura earned selection for the Japan national team and appeared in international fixtures representing his country. While not always a long-term fixture in the national squad, his caps at senior level are regarded as an important part of his playing résumé. National-team summaries and match records are collected in archival sources: national team archive.

Playing style and position

Primarily a striker, Ogura was known for his attacking instincts, movement in and around the penalty area, and ability to link play with teammates. His style reflected that of many forwards who combined positional awareness with an emphasis on finishing and team-oriented attacking runs.

Coaching and management

After finishing his playing career Ogura transitioned into coaching and club management. His post-playing roles have included coaching younger players, assisting with first-team preparation, and taking on operational or managerial responsibilities within clubs. Records of his managerial appointments and coaching activities can be consulted here: management record.

Ogura's career is representative of many players who bridged the amateur and professional eras in Japan: domestic impact, occasional overseas experience, and a continued commitment to football through coaching and management following retirement.
