Barre (commonly pronounced "BAIR-ee") is a city in the state of Vermont, United States. It is the largest city by population within Washington County, Vermont. According to the 2010 census, Barre had 9,052 residents. To distinguish it from the surrounding municipality, people often refer to it as "Barre City".
