Ken Naganuma (長沼 健, Naganuma Ken; September 5, 1930 – June 2, 2008) was a Japanese football player, manager and administrator. He represented his country as a player and later took charge of the national side, before moving into a senior role within the sport's governing body in Japan.
Playing and coaching career
Naganuma won selection for the Japan national team during his playing career and later returned to lead the same team as manager. Over the course of his involvement at the international level he was known for helping to build and develop the national programme through both on-field and coaching work.
Administration
After his coaching years, Naganuma continued to contribute to football off the pitch. He served as president of the Japan Football Association from 1994 until 1998, holding a top administrative post and taking part in the organisation's efforts to promote the game domestically and represent Japan in international football affairs.
Legacy
Ken Naganuma passed away on June 2, 2008. He is remembered in Japan for his long involvement in the sport as a player, manager and senior administrator, and for his role in advancing football in the country.
