Karpal Singh

Karpal Singh (1940–2014) was a Malaysian lawyer and opposition politician, noted for his long public service with the Democratic Action Party and his advocacy for rule of law and civil liberties.

Karpal Singh (28 June 1940 – 17 April 2014) was a prominent Malaysian lawyer and politician. Born in George Town, Penang, he became widely known for his legal work and outspoken role in national politics as a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP). He served in the federal parliament as the Member of Parliament for Bukit Gelugor from March 2004 until his death in April 2014.
