Shelley Lubben (May 18, 1968 – February 9, 2019) was an American author, singer, motivational speaker and former pornographic performer. During her time in the adult industry she worked under the stage name Roxy.
Career and activism
After leaving the adult film industry, Lubben became a born-again Christian and focused her efforts on public speaking and advocacy against pornography. She described health and safety problems she experienced and witnessed in the industry and spoke publicly about what she characterized as hazardous working conditions.
From 2008 until 2016 she served as Executive Director of the Pink Cross Foundation, an organization she founded to provide outreach to people working in pornography and to raise awareness of its harms. In January 2016 Lubben announced the closure of the Pink Cross Foundation.
Ministry and later life
Lubben pursued religious ministry after leaving the adult industry. She was an ordained chaplain with the Order of Saint Martin and held a degree in theological studies, and she continued to speak and write on matters of faith and recovery.
Death
On February 9, 2019, Lubben was found deceased at her home in Springville, California. Law enforcement reports and subsequent coverage indicated a suspected drug overdose; she was 50 years old.
