Design and characteristics

Conceived as a lightweight, highly mobile 4x4, the Humvee emphasizes ground clearance, approach/departure angles and a wide stance for stability. The platform is modular: basic chassis and driveline arrangements accommodate a range of bodies and fittings such as troop‑carrying beds, weapon mounts, shelter modules and medical fitting.
