Overview

Hércules Club de Fútbol is a Spanish association football club based in Alicante. Founded on 25 October 1922, the team is one of the oldest in the Valencian Community and is traditionally identified by its blue and white colours. The club plays its home matches at the Estadio José Rico Pérez, a stadium with a capacity of about 29,500 spectators.

Identity and characteristics

Commonly referred to as Hércules CF or simply Hércules, the club is often nicknamed the "Blanquiazules" in reference to its white-and-blue kit. The crest and imagery draw on local and classical themes linked to the name "Hércules," reflecting the club's regional identity. Hércules operates a first team, reserve side and youth academy aimed at developing local talent.

History and development

Over the course of its century-long existence, Hércules has experienced periods in Spain's top flight as well as seasons in lower divisions. The club has gone through promotions and relegations typical of many long-standing clubs, and has played notable campaigns that brought it national attention. In recent years the Spanish league structure was reorganised; Hércules currently competes in the Segunda División RFEF – Group 5, the fourth tier in the modern system.

Estadio José Rico Pérez serves as Hércules' long-term home and is a focal point for the club's supporters in Alicante and the surrounding province. The fanbase includes organised groups and a membership (socio) tradition common among Spanish clubs, with supporters playing an active role in matchday culture and local community initiatives.
